We’re pleased to announce that Pain Physicians of Wisconsin is now Pro Spine & Pain.
High-platelet PRP therapy represents an exciting advance in regenerative medicine, helping patients manage joint pain by encouraging the body’s natural healing mechanisms. If you are struggling with persistent joint pain and want to explore non-surgical treatment options, PRP therapy may be right for you.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to support healing in injured or painful joints. Blood contains platelets—cells that release growth factors and healing proteins. In PRP therapy, a small sample of your blood is processed to create a high-platelet concentration plasma. This plasma is then carefully injected into the painful joint or surrounding tissues.
Because the treatment uses your own blood, it safely works with your body’s natural repair processes to achieve:
Not all PRP treatments are the same. Unlike other providers, Pro Spine and Pain uses high-platelet count PRP. With up to 10 billion platelets delivered in each dose, high platelet count PRP offers the greatest benefit to patients for both pain relief and joint function.1
Higher platelet levels can mean:
This enhanced concentration may help improve treatment effectiveness for many patients with joint pain and may even help to reduce the rate of further cartilage loss.2
High-platelet PRP may be used to safely treat joint pain related to:
On the day of your treatment, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm. The blood is then processed in our office using a special machine to concentrate the platelets. The high platelet PRP is then injected into your affected joint. The procedure typically takes between 30-60 minutes, after which you may return home.
Most patients may resume most normal activities shortly after the treatment. Improvements in pain and joint function develop gradually over several weeks as healing processes are stimulated. Patients with certain conditions may be advised to return for additional treatments for best results.
PRP therapy is generally considered safe because it uses your own blood, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or disease transmission.
As with any injection, potential side effects may include:
Your provider will review all potential risks and benefits before treatment.
